Our History

D.B.GIRLS’ JUNIOR COLLEGE
 
Durgaprasad Banwarilal Girls Junior College was started in the year 1969 with the strength of 25 students to encourage the education of the women.  It was started with the Humanities and Science group with Hindi as medium of instruction.  Smt.Kamala Devi Vandemataram and Sri Ratanlal Sanghi were the first Principal and Correspondent of the College. Seeing the immense response of students in the year 1976 science section had also been added.  In the year 1987 to keep pace with the time CEC, MEC and MPC groups were introduced.  To spread the computer literacy in the year 1992-93 Computer subject was introduced for the first year students and in the year 1998-99. The same was applied for second year students also.
 
Located at the heart of city, D.B. College is one among 14 institutions run by Agarwal Siksha Samiti. It aims at excelling in academic field and also in the area of other human interests.  We are equipped with a competent staff, full-fledged Library, spacious class rooms and beautiful infrastructure.  We have Computer lab, Games Room to nurture the students and exploit their potentials. Education coupled with employability is our main motto.  Our vision is to strengthen every girl student with ethical, moral and financial knowledge, which in turn will support our society.
 
Achievements of Staff & Students:       
 
Smt.Sarita Agarwal, Principal secured 2nd prize in Best Scientific Paper (Professional Category) entitled “Identity Crises in The Shadow of Dementia : Still Alice” at 7th International EConference on“FORENSIC PHYCHOLOGY” conducted on 24th and 25th July 2021.
Her research paper also got published online in a reputed ‘International journal of Medical Ethics’ on August 5, 2021 titled as “Dementia:Trauma and loss of personhood vs family as recuperative space” . 
 
One of her research paper titled as “Investigating Dementia in William Shakespeare’s King Lear” published in KALA Journal of Indian Art History Congress.
The result of IPE March 2019 results was 87% and after Advance Supplementary the result was 95% which is highest in comparison with last 20 years.
 
Ms.Bhavani Kedia, CEC II year student International Tennis Player in the category of partially deaf, visited Turkey, Hong Kong and Delhi to play International lawn Tennis in the month of September 2019.  She participated in World championship of Tennis and represented India. 
 
Ms.Mane Vaishnavi CEC I yr. secured Gold Medal in Karate in International Youth Games 2019 held at Nepal on 2nd August 2019.
 
Our College received Special Appreciation award by Ekal Vidyalaya is an award ceremony at Pragati College on 5th January 2020 for the generous contribution by the students towards Friends of Tribal Society .
 
Golden Jubilee Celebrations were held on 11th January 2020. We invited  Dr.Tamilisai Soundararajan, the honorable Governor of Telangana as our Chief Guest, IPS Shikha Goel and Dr. Geetha Nagasree as Guests of Honor. All the passed out students of last 50 years have been invited to sparkle the event.  
 
Due to this pandemic situation, we conducted virtual classes and organized various events, competitions, Parent Teacher meets. All being held virtually on different apps.  
 
Women’s Day was celebrated on 8th March 2021 Dr.Swetha Agarwal, Director, Southern Gems Hospital  as Chief Guest, Ms.Sanjana Shah Exe. Director BNI Hyderabad and Captain Radhika Agarwal, First Officer Indigo had attended as Guests of Honor.
 
Yoga Day was celebrated on 21st June 2021 in Bhagwan Das Mandapam.
 
“KNOW YOUR COLLEGE” a students’ get-together  (Fresher’s & Farewell) was organized  on 16th July 2021.    The students participated in the event with Ramp walk, Quiz, Dancing & many more exciting Games.  The subject toppers, winners and the achievers were awarded.
